Humphrey Institute Commitment to Diversity

"Be clear where America stands. Human brotherhood and equal opportunity for every man, woman, and child, we are committed to it, in America and around the world."

~ Hubert H. Humphrey

The Humphrey Institute is enriched by diversity among our faculty members, staff, and student body. The diversity of views and experiences at the Humphrey Institute enhances our students’ ability to create change in their communities, nation, and the world. We are committed to providing leadership in research, teaching, and outreach related to diversity and social change; recruiting and retaining diverse students, faculty members, and staff; developing curricula that reflects the multicultural world in which we live; and raising scholarship funds to offer financial support to underrepresented students.

Resources

The Humphrey Institute created this website in order to better serve the needs of prospective and current students, as well as the community on and beyond campus.  Event calendars; scholarship, fellowship, and research opportunities; University of Minnesota resources; and community resources have been gathered to assist our diverse community.

Diversity in Communication

FILM: "Mohawk Girls"
Thursday, April 19
6:30 p.m.
Nicholson Hall 125
University of Minnesota, East Bank campus

Exuberant, intimate look at issues of American Indian identity, culture and family. This film captures the lives of three insightful Mohawk teenagers growing up on the Kahnawake Native Reserve.

To move away from the reserve means you risk losing your credibility, or
worse, your rights as a Mohawk. But to stay is to give up the possibilities offered by the "outside world."

Post-film discussion facilitated Peggy Flanagan, White Earth Band of Ojibwe and Mpls. School Board member.
