Diversity in Communication
FILM: "Mohawk Girls"
Thursday, April 19
6:30 p.m.
Nicholson Hall 125
University of Minnesota, East Bank campus
Exuberant, intimate look at issues of American Indian identity,
culture and family. This film captures the lives of three insightful
Mohawk teenagers growing up on the Kahnawake Native Reserve.
To move away from the reserve means you risk losing your credibility, or
worse, your rights as a Mohawk. But to stay is to give up the
possibilities offered by the "outside world."
Post-film discussion facilitated Peggy Flanagan, White Earth Band of Ojibwe and Mpls. School Board member.
