In 2007, the University of Minnesota's Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs launched a postdoctoral fellowship program on Race, Gender and Public Policy(RGPP), a joint program of the Wilkins Center for Social Justice and the Center on Women and Public Policy. This exciting, new program seeks to advance the field of intersectionality studies, promote interdisciplinary research, and facilitate critical dialogue on
Race, Gender, and Public Policy.

The post-doctoral fellowships offered through this program provide emerging scholars with the opportunity to further their own research as well as develop and teach a graduate seminar based upon that research. An additional component of the Race, Gender and Public Policy Initiative is its emphasis on facilitating change not only within academia and the policy arena, but within communities as well. Fellows have the opportunity to see practical applications of their research, collaborating with local organizations and leaders to promote public policy change
Fellowship Program Goals:
Offer recent post-doctoral candidates the
opportunity to spend a year focused on developing their research.
Cultivate the field of intersectionality studies by supporting applied public policy research.
Facilitate critical dialogue on race, gender, and public policy within academia and the wider public policy community.
Broaden the public policy curriculum by developing exciting new courses addressing issues of race, gender, and inequality across disciplines and subject areas.
