Among the Institute's faculty ranks are individuals who have worked for the World Bank, the United States Congress, the President Council of Economic Advisors, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Ford Foundation, the mayor of San Francisco's Office of Housing and Economic Development, the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Association of Public Policy and Management, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Council of Foreign Relations, among others.

The Humphrey Institute faculty also includes a fellow of the National Academy of Science and a Regents' Professor, the highest honor the University of Minnesota bestows upon its teachers.
