The person in this position would contribute to the Humphrey Institute through research, teaching, and outreach.

Essential qualifications:

To be eligible as a fellow, an individual must have at least five years of experience in a major executive, elected, or other eminent position and achieved widely recognized prominence in some field of public affairs. To be eligible as a senior fellow, an individual must have at least ten years of experience and meet one of three additional criteria:

academic discipline related to public affairs;

* s/he must be a practitioner with a significant national or

* s/he must be a public affairs thinker, author, or entrepreneur widely recognized to have made - or to have the potential to make - a unique and original contribution to public affairs.

In the latter two categories, neither a Ph.D. nor a scholarly publication record is required for appointment as a senior fellow, but the position is roughly comparable to that of a full professor.
