• U.S. Charter Schools Web site - The single best source for infomation about charter schools, state by state. Includes resources, contacts, chat groups of various subjects, including accountability, curriculum, special education along with state specific discussions. Good work by the feds!

• Charter Friends National Network Web site : Most states with charter schools have non-profit organizations separate from the state government which help people start these schools. Many states also have organizations created by people who work in charter schools. This Web site allows you to find the organization, or organizations in the state in which you are especially interested. It also contains a variety of publications designed to help people create charter schools. Very helpful!

• Small Schools Coalition Web site: Most charter schools are small schools. The Small Schools Workshop, located at the University of Illinois - Chicago campus, has spent years helping people think through the opportunities and challenges of creating effective small schools. If you are focused on this issue, these folks have lots of practical ideas, along with great research summaries.

• National Charter School Clearinghouse (NCSC) Web site: A research-based organization that provides summaries of current charter school research, technical assistance, grantwriting and funding information, and charter school news.

• Chicago Public Schools - Charter Schools Web site: Provides information and oversight to charter schools located in Chicago.

• Leadership for Quality Education (LQE) Web site: Resource center in Chicago which provides information on charter schools, small district-run public schools, accountability and other issues. LQE has produced publications and runs conferences.

• Small Schools Coalition Web site: Also see above for Small Schools Workshop, located in Chicago, which works with small schools in Chicago and other parts of the country.

Indiana: As of fall 2000, Indiana does not have a charter school law.

• Michigan Association of Public School Academies (MAPSA). In Michigan, charter schools are called public school academies.

• Michigan Resource Center for Charter Schools: Located at Central Michigan University, focuses on helping people who want CMU to sponsor (authorize) them. Click here.

Minnesota

• Minnesota Association of Charter Schools (MACS) Web site: Provides information and assistance to member charter schools.

• Center for School Change Web site: Provides information and assistance to people seeking to start charter schools in Minnesota. Holds monthly meetings for charter school developers.

• Charter School Statutes: Lists the current charter school law.
