OIP International Internship Awards

Award: Awards will be up to $5,000 and are intended to underwrite travel and living expenses incurred in internships abroad.
Eligibility: Current University of Minnesota graduate and professional degree students undertaking international internships.

OIP maintains a database of external international funding opportunities for research. These sources are mostly for research and don't include funding for study abroad programs or conference travel. University of Minnesota faculty members, staff, and graduate students can request a specialized, individual database search.

Learning Abroad Center at the University of Minnesota provides an external scholarship database that allows you to search for funding and scholarship opportunities.

University of Minnesota, Graduate School: Fellowships for Research Abroad
The Graduate Fellowship Office processes applications and, when appropriate, conducts interviews for several competitions for graduate study abroad and research fellowships, including Fulbright Program, German Academic Exchange Service, and Luce Scholars Program (one-year internship in Asia).

Award: The maximum award for overseas study is $12,000 per semester for up to two semesters. A maximum of $12,000 is available for a program of domestic study only. The maximum level of support for a combined overseas and domestic program is $30,000.
Eligibility: The purpose of NSEP is to promote the study of under-represented languages and areas critical to U.S. national security in countries other than Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. Fellowships are also available for domestic internships.
