Career Development Course and Career Workshops

As part of career education, Career Services offers a one-credit course in public service careers, plus a variety of workshops:

  1. PA 5910, Developing Your Public Service Career, provides Humphrey students with the knowledge and analytic tools to manage their own career development. Students look at the changing nature of public work and public service career options. They analyze and document their individual interests, skills and abilities and create a career exploration plan. Finally, they meet professionals from a variety of public service careers in a series of panel discussions. [PA 5910 syllabus)
  2. Career workshops: We offer workshops on resume and cover letter writing monthly, plus a four-part series in winter on interview skills:

Creating Professional Connections
Interview Basics
Handling Tough Interview Questions with Confidence
How Much Is My Work Worth? Negotiating Salary and Benefits
