Bernadine Joselyn (MPA '00) is a member of the alumni board at the Humphrey Institute. She has joined the UMAA board as the northeast Minnesota representative. Bernadine lives in Grand Rapids, where she directs the Public Policy and Engagement Program for Blandin Foundation, Minnesota's largest rural-based philanthropic organization with a mission to strengthen rural Minnesota communities, especially Grand Rapids.

She completed work assignments at Germany's Supreme Audit Institute in Bonn as well as the German Institute for Town Center Development in Berlin.

Rosa Tock (MPP '01) writes, "Since May, I am the legislative director at the Chicano Latino Affairs Council where I gather information and community input in various areas regarding Latinos in Minnesota. Part of my work is to disseminate this information to advise and educate state legislators and other policymakers about the socio-economic situation of Latinos in the state."

Academic notes Assistant Professor Jodi Sandfort and alumnus co-author Tim Dykstal (MPP '05) received the first place award for their teaching case titled "Trust as an Asset" in the Maxwell School Collaborative Governance Initiative competition. It is a two part decision-forcing case developed to illustrate the tensions involved in working across organizational boundaries to develop important management innovations that improve how nonprofit organizations can effectively serve citizens.
Humphrey Institute Senior Fellow Jay Kiedrowsk (MA '71) received honorable mention for his case "Health Careers Institute," which analyzes informal cross-sector collaborations involving business, governmental, philanthropic, educational, and nonprofit organizations. Kiedrowski's submission was co-authored by alumna Allison Rojas (MA '96).
New additions Michael Raja (MA '97) and his wife Theresa welcomed the birth of their second son Rasmus, born September 14.
